Narbonne
Villa Rental Near Narbonne
If you want to rent a villa near Narbonne, then Villa La Cascade is ideal as it is just over 30 minutes from this ancient Roman city. Narbonne is an attractive place to visit – bisected by the Canal de Robine, an off shoot of the more famous Canal du Midi.
Narbonne is on the Via Domitia – the old roman road from Rome to Seville, and a small section of the road can be seen in the main square (also a great place for a coffee or some people watching!). For lovers of Languedoc food and wine the food market at Les Halles is one of the best in France and on the outskirts on the way south towards Durban Corbieres, you can also visit the Palais du Vin and choose from an array of excellent local wines from producers across Languedoc.
Narbonne isn’t on the tourist trail, unlike its more illustrious neighbours such as Avignon or Carcassonne and that is part of its undiscovered charm. However it does have a number of worthwhile sights.
The former cathedral of Saint-Just dating from 1272 and the "Palais des Archevêques", the Archbishop's Palace are definitely worth a visit. There’s also a good range of restaurants, bars and cafes – all suitable for idling away an hour or two in this laid back Mediterranean city. For lovers of watersports windsurfing in Languedoc is a popular pastime and is available south of the town at resorts such as Le Franqui. The picturesque Fontfroide Abbey is also nearby and is well worth a visit from our Languedoc villa.
